Articles about Landmark Forum

Landmark Forum (or Landmark Education) a personal development program. Originally, it was Werner Erhard’s EST. A group purchased the intellectual property rights of EST and added more training to attract a broader market.

Much criticism has been directed at Landmark. It is categorized as an LGAT (Large-Group Awareness Training) and is the target of accusations of brainwashing. My personal experience with Landmark is that they use psychological manipulation techniques to challenge one’s view of reality. The main idea in my experience is that nothing has value beyond the value we assign to it…as a result, they teach that there is no right or wrong, no good or evil, unless we think there is.

Obviously, Landmark is not compatible with Christianity.

Christianity and the teachings of Landmark Forum are not at all compatible! Landmark Forum says that nothing has any value at all, except that which we give it...so there is no right or wrong, no good or bad, no evil, and no sin. A Christian is a follower of Jesus, who taught the opposite.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I recently spent some time discussing Landmark Education with one of their leaders. I'm meeting him for coffee in the morning, so their teachings are on my mind. I also fielded a phone call from one of their follow-up guys...

There is no truth, no meaning, no value. That's what I learned at last night's Landmark Education meeting. My friend invited me because she's excited about what Landmark has done to help her. I spent a couple of hours with her and a mutual friend and the gentleman who led the discussion.
